When does the EU AI Act apply to me?
+
The prohibitions on unacceptable risk and the obligation to promote AI literacy in your team (Article 4) have applied since February 2025. Since August 2026, the transparency obligations under Article 50 have applied as well, for example for chatbots and deepfakes. The Digital Omnibus postponed the obligations for high-risk AI:
from 2 December 2027 for systems under Annex III, from August 2028 for AI in regulated products. Klaus knows your deadline.
We "only" use ChatGPT. Do we even need Klaus?
+
Probably yes: as soon as you use ChatGPT in business processes, at least
Article 4 (AI literacy in your team) applies, and you should keep an inventory of your AI applications. If you use ChatGPT directly with customers (e.g. as a chatbot or for automated replies), the transparency obligation under Article 50 applies as well. Klaus covers all of this in half an hour.
Does Klaus replace a lawyer?
+
No, and it is not meant to. Klaus covers 95% of the routine work: inventory, risk classification, standard documents, training. For genuine borderline cases (high-risk AI you develop yourself), Klaus puts you in touch with one of our partner lawyers.
How does this fit with the GDPR and Dieter?
+
Klaus and Dieter share the same login, account and master data. Wherever AI processes personal data (almost always), both sets of rules interlock: Klaus hands over to Dieter automatically and vice versa.
How much does Klaus cost?
+
As a solo freelancer with one employee and one AI system, you start completely free, with an AI policy and training. The 6-phase check of your AI systems is not included in the free plan; it starts with Klaus Basic. As your team grows, the price scales with your number of employees and AI systems: Klaus Basic from €29/month (up to 10 employees, up to 3 AI systems), Klaus Premium from €79/month (up to 20 employees, up to 10 AI systems), each with annual billing, excl. VAT. Beyond that, we will put together an individual Klaus Enterprise offer for you. The paid plans run for 12 months, then renew automatically for one further year at a time and can be cancelled with 3 months' notice before the end of the term.
